Winnipeg's Amber Trails neighbourhood will soon be home to two new community pickleball courts.

The province is investing $100,000 through its From the Ground Up – Safe Healthy Communities for ALL Program to fund the project. 

New courts coming to Amber Trails

"These new pickleball courts will give families a safe, accessible place to stay active and connect with their neighbours," said Municipal and Northern Relations Minister Glen Simard. "By investing in community‑driven recreation projects, we’re supporting play, programming and events that bring people together. This project strengthens a growing, diverse neighbourhood and ensures residents have quality outdoor spaces to enjoy close to home."

Platinum Jets, a Winnipeg-based community and philanthropic group, will construct the two new pickleball courts, including nets and anchors, a granular base, top coat of asphalt and perimeter fencing.

Community space for all ages

"Pickleball has become one of the most popular activities for people of all ages, and this investment ensures the broader Winnipeg community can enjoy free, accessible outdoor courts in their own neighbourhood," said Public Service Delivery Minister Mintu Sandhu. "These new courts will encourage active living, social connection and a healthier community."

The new courts will offer a safe, accessible space for recreation outside of school hours. 

The From the Ground Up – Safe Healthy Communities for ALL Program provides up to $100,000 to help non‑profits, municipalities and northern affairs councils fund community revitalization, youth programs and capital improvements that strengthen local infrastructure and support vibrant community life.
