Left fielder Jiandido Tromp drove in two runs with a two-out, walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Winnipeg Goldeyes (49-40) rallied to defeat the Kansas City Monarchs 9-8 Thursday evening at Blue Cross Park.

Winnipeg took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. First baseman Ramón Bramasco and shortstop Ray-Patrick Didder walked before centre fielder Noah Marcelo drew another walk to load the bases. Catcher Raphaël Pelletier then doubled to left field to score Bramasco and Didder.

Kansas City (52-38) got one run back in the second when left fielder Grant Richardson walked and shortstop José Torres doubled to left to make it 2-1.
 
The Monarchs scored four times in the fifth. Catcher Onix Vega led off with a home run to left field to tie the game before right fielder Tyler Gentry singled home centre fielder Hudson Head. Third baseman J.D. Davis reached on an error that allowed Gentry to score, and second baseman Sahid Valenzuela followed with an RBI single that gave Kansas City a 5-2 lead.
 
The Goldeyes answered with three runs in the bottom half. Second baseman Adam Hall walked and stole second before Bramasco and Didder also drew walks. Right fielder Keshawn Lynch singled to centre to score Hall and Bramasco, and designated hitter Max Murphy singled home Didder to tie the game 5-5.
 
Winnipeg moved back in front in the sixth. Hall singled and stole second before Bramasco drove him home with a single to centre for a 6-5 lead.
 
Kansas City tied the game in the seventh. First baseman Saul Garza doubled, stole third, and scored on Valenzuela's single to left.
 
Neither team scored again until the 10th, when the Monarchs took an 8-6 lead on a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Austin Callahan and an RBI single by Head.
 
The Goldeyes rallied with two outs in the bottom of the inning. Pelletier singled to right to score Didder and cut the deficit to 8-7. Roby Enríquez pinch-ran for Pelletier before Murphy singled to centre and stole second. Tromp then dropped a single into right field, scoring Enríquez and Murphy to give Winnipeg the 9-8 victory.

Left-hander Kevin Vaupel allowed five runs, three earned, on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out five. Right-hander Quinn Waterhouse allowed one run on two hits and one walk in one inning while striking out one. Right-hander Sage Ferguson worked 1 1/3 hitless, scoreless innings and struck out three. Right-hander Derrick Cherry (W, 3-3) pitched the final two innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and one walk while striking out two.

Kansas City starter Thaddeus Ward allowed two runs on two hits over four innings, walking four and striking out six. Durbin Feltman (L, 2-2) was charged with three runs, two earned, on three hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Pelletier finished two-for-five with a double and three runs batted in. Tromp and Lynch each went two-for-five with two RBIs, while Murphy had two hits, an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base.
 
Hall scored twice and stole two bases, raising his season total to 43, the fourth-most in a season in Goldeyes history. Hall moved past Fehlandt Lentini, who stole 42 bases in 2007. Lentini also holds the club record with 57 steals in 2006, while Brian Duva stole 55 in 1997 and Adam Heisler swiped 44 in 2015.
 
Winnipeg won the four-game series three games to one.
 
The Goldeyes open a three-game series against the Lake Country DockHounds Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Blue Cross Park. Right-hander Landen Bourassa (2-3, 3.98 ERA) is scheduled to start for Winnipeg, while Lake Country will counter with right-hander Marc Davis (1-3, 3.72 ERA).
