After two years with Manitoba Hydro, President and CEO Allan Danroth has left the utility for personal reasons.

In the meantime, Manitoba Hydro's Electric Board Chair Jamie Wilson has appointed Hal Turner, the utility's current chief operating officer who began his career at Manitoba Hydro in 1995, as interim president and CEO effective immediately.

"On behalf of the board, I want to thank Allan Danroth for his service to the organization,” said Wilson. "Allan led us through some important changes to our operations, including major improvements to our safety culture and work to replace our aging SAP software, among other initiatives. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Search underway for permanent CEO

A comprehensive internal and external search for a new permanent president and CEO will begin shortly.

"While we get started on that critical work, the board has full confidence in Hal Turner, a Hydro veteran with more than 30 years of experience at the corporation, to successfully lead us through this transitional period," said Wilson.

Turner was interim CEO during the previous transitional period between the release of Jay Grewal and the hiring of Danroth in 2024.

Wilson added the search for a new CEO will reflect current board and provincial priorities for the utility, including keeping energy affordable, collaborating with Indigenous communities, supporting utility workers, and moving forward with the utility’s development plan.
