After Winnipeggers rallied to help two cyclists get back on the road following a bike theft, there’s now another piece of good news: police have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft.

Valentin Duquenne and Thomas Clark set out on their journey from Sydney, Nova Scotia, on June 22, 2026, to raise awareness for men's mental health and funds for Movember Canada.

Bike stolen in Winnipeg

During their stop in Winnipeg in July, while promoting their cause, the men discovered their bikes had been stolen from their vehicle, which was parked downtown.

On Aug. 7, at 5:30 p.m., patrolling officers recognized one of the stolen bicycles being ridden by an adult male in the 1800 block of Bannatyne Avenue West. The 60-year-old male was placed under arrest without incident, and the bicycle was recovered.

He faces a charge of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and was released on an appearance notice.

Through their investigation, Property Crime investigators identified the theft suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Investigators also learned that following the thefts, the suspect traded the bicycles to the 60-year-old and an unidentified male.

Theft suspect  arrested

On August 23, Central District Community Support Unit officers arrested a 42-year-old man at the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Balmoral Street, seizing a small amount of methamphetamine in the process.

He is facing several charges, including two counts of theft over $5,000.

The second bike has yet to be recovered.

He remains in custody.

Another setback

Since completing their journey, Duquenne and Clark have faced another setback after their replacement bikes were stolen from a vehicle parked at a Calgary hotel.

Calgary police are investigating. The pair say they remain committed to the message behind their Men Don't Ride Alone campaign.
