A security guard is recovering after being stabbed at a Dollarama in St. James.
Winnipeg police say they were called to the store located at the Courts of St. James in the 2700 block of Portage Avenue at around 4 p.m. Tuesday following reports of a robbery and the subsequent stabbing of a security guard.
Security guard stabbed
Police say the man entered the store and was confronted by a security guard who suspected him of shoplifting. When the security guard asked the man to leave, he pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed the guard in the upper body.

Guard taken to hospital
When officers arrived, they found the 22-year-old guard suffering from a serious injury. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.
The suspect fled before police arrived.
No arrests made
No arrests have been made, and the Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate.
